Prime’s work focuses on two interrelated strategies:
1) steering capital that we aggregate and deploy, and
2) influencing capital outside of our own holdings.
Each strategy is comprised of multiple programs,
which roll up into an overarching Theory of Change
toward a future where humanity thrives without
the threat of climate change.

Trellis Climate
Trellis Climate is an impact-first catalytic capital program enabling novel climate infrastructure solutions to achieve commercial scale at speed. Committed to accelerating the deployment of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) climate projects, Trellis Climate focuses on opportunities with significant climate impact potential, a clear path to scale, and an acute need for catalytic capital.
Azolla Ventures
Prime Coalition and Azolla Ventures, an impact-first investing firm launched by Prime, announced a $239 million blended fund in 2023.
Prime Impact Fund
Prime Impact Fund (PIF) is a $50 million, 100% catalytic capital fund launched in 2018. Prime Coalition governs PIF and works with its investment team, tightly tethering our nonprofit structure and charitable purposes to PIF’s corporate form to ensure and maintain the primacy of mission, impact, and additionality.
CRANE
CRANE is a freely available online tool and data source to help philanthropists, impact investors, and others assess the potential future emissions reductions of new or early-stage climate solutions. Anyone can sign up and explore it, at cranetool.org!
Project Frame
Frame is a collaboration of investors and experts working to build frameworks and tools to assess the potential impact today’s climate investments will have on greenhouse gas emissions in the future.
Catalytic Capital Courses
A 5-person research team from Prime Coalition and MIT is strengthening the evidence base around how catalytic capital can be used to support high risk, deep impact science and engineering innovation and deployment.
