  • Avalanche Energy, which is creating a fusion reactor you can hold in your hands, had its work and team featured in Canary Media — and won a grant from the Defense Innovation Unit to develop a prototype of a fusion engine to be used for space propulsion.

  • The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and the MIT Technology Review all featured Charm Industrial’s work to sequester carbon emissions via bio-oil. (MIT even did it twice, covering Charm’s work in corn stalks and steelmaking.)

  • C-Motive Technologies is partnering with auto components major Sona Comstar to develop electrostatic drive motors for electric vehicle applications.

  • Gradient, the company building a climate-friendly window A/C unit, won the New York City Housing Authority’s Clean Heat For All Challenge (covered in Grist and Canary), and won in Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards. 

  • Dave Snydacker, CEO of Lilac Solutions, spoke on CNN’s “First Move” about the essential role of lithium in the EV supply chain, Lilac’s technology to extract lithium from brines without evaporation ponds, and the Kachi brine project in Argentina.

  • Mallinda, a company creating an infinitely recyclable polymer composite, won the “Coup de Coeur” scale up challenge award from the World Materials Forum.

  • Tynt Technologies, which is developing smart tinting windows for the residential market, won a $250,000 grant from the Colorado OEDIT (Office of Economic Development and International Trade) Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Program.

  • Zanskar, a company using AI to discover and derisk new geothermal resources, recently closed a $12MM Series A funding round; financing was co-led by Union Square Ventures and Lowercarbon Capital. Read more about their vision of an energy abundant future here
