  • Calcarea’s public debut was reported on by Fast Company, Carbon Herald, and New Scientist. The company is pioneering the decarbonization of maritime shipping by installing reactors onboard ocean vessels that capture and sequester emissions.

  • Charm Industrial’s groundbreaking efforts to sequester carbon emissions via bio-oil were covered by The New Yorker.

  • Clean Crop Technologies, which utilizes high-voltage plasma technology to increase yields and improve food safety while reducing food waste, was honored as the winner of the Agriculture Category in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas. The recognition comes after  launching the world’s first cold-plasma seed treatment facility and securing regulatory approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency, highlighted in their recent AgFunder feature. 

  • Ebb Carbon, the company employing a novel electrochemical ocean alkalinity enhancement process to draw down atmospheric carbon, is a finalist in XPrize Carbon Removal’s global competition for developing the most promising CO2 removal technology, covered by Canary Media. Ebb was also featured in Yale Environment 360, WhaTech, My Clallam County, The Cooldown, and FreeThink.

  • Funga's CEO, Colin Averill, delivered the keynote speech at Harvard University's 17th Annual Plant Biology Initiative Symposium in May. Funga is optimizing the microbiome of tree roots to accelerate growth, storing carbon in wood and soil.

  • Gradient, a company building a climate-friendly hybrid heating and cooling unit to advance the building sector towards zero carbon, had a short documentary made about their All-Weather 120V window heat pump. The documentary, titled "Moonshot to Milestones" was created by Hollywood filmmaker Chung Nguyen.

  • Heaten, the company accelerating the transition to clean and efficient industrial heating processes through a high-temperature heat pump, secured a loan from Innovation Norway to facilitate further advancement and commercialization of its technology.

  • SiTration announced the closure of an $11.8MM seed funding round, which was covered by Biz Journals, Environmental Energy Leader, CityBiz, Yahoo Finance, TechFunding News, and TechCrunch. SiTration is developing a system to recycle critical materials from lithium-ion battery cathodes using a novel silicon-membrane-based system.

  • Sublime Systems announced the first commercial use of its low-carbon cement at One Boston Wharf. This news was reported by various media outlets, including Canary Media, Carbon Harold, The Cool Down, NBC Boston, and Boston Real Estate Times. Sublime's co-founders, Leah Ellis and Yet-Ming Chiang, were also included in the Boston Globe's Tech Power Players 50 list.

  • Twelve announced that they are close to finalizing their Series C funding, as reported by Axios. Twelve is replacing the use of petrochemicals in everyday products with CO2, renewable energy, and water. 

  • Vesta, a company using the mineral olivine at sea to remove atmospheric CO2, initiated the first open ocean carbon removal project in the U.S. this May, as covered by HeatMap and the Wall Street Journal. Vesta will place olivine sand in the nearshore waters off Duck, N.C., to study the potential of Coastal Carbon Capture (CCC) in mitigating climate change by removing excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

  • Wright Electric, a company aiming to eliminate carbon emissions from all regional flights, announced the launch of its Wright Electric Aircraft Engine Test Cell (WEAETC). This marks its first step in electric propulsion testing. Additionally, Wright shared a progress update on the development of its second-generation motor, WM2500, which was covered by Green Car Congress.

  • Zanskar, a company using AI to discover and derisk new geothermal resources, announced the close of a $30MM funding round, as covered by Renewable Energy Magazine, ImpactAlpha, Think Geoenergy, and FinSMEs. Zanskar was also recently featured in a Forbes article and short video about unlocking geothermal energy's power with artificial intelligence.
