Michael is a consultant working with Prime Coalition to promote the use of catalytic capital – i.e., capital that accepts disproportionate risk and/or below-market-rate returns to generate a positive impact that would not be possible with more conventional investing strategies.
Michael has been passionate about social impact ever since he completed a year in the National Civilian Community Corps. He later completed a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago, where he conducted research on the history of social welfare policy in the United States.
Michael has served as a consultant to a variety of other organizations in the social impact field, including Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, the Urban Institute, and Columbia World Projects. He also helps lead research on impact investing at the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Initiative at the Wharton School.
