Prime Coalition is thrilled to partner with Impact Frontiers and the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at the Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business to deliver a new course for impact investors, Strengthening Impact Management (SIM).

Starting in April 2025, this year-long, cohort-based course will equip investors with tools and best practices to strengthen impact management. Read on for details!

Strengthening Impact Management (SIM)

April 2025-April 2026

SIM is a year-long course designed to help investors & philanthropists across all asset classes and impact priorities develop an assessment tool and workflow that aligns with their own goals. The tool is based on Impact Frontiers’ established method, which integrates impact into decision-making using a tested quantitative framework for weighting decisions according to each investor’s own priorities. By the end of SIM, participants will have:

  • Completed a diagnostic on their impact management capabilities

  • Articulated integrated portfolio goals

  • Customized an expected impact rating model

  • Developed integrated impact-financial portfolio charts

  • Built investment decision-making rules that incorporate impact

The 2025 cohort will feature an intentional but not exclusive focus on climate action, with special co-facilitators from Prime Coalition. Climate will infuse cohort discussions, including how climate change affects our organizations and investment portfolios and how investors are facing the challenge. Cohort members and their organizations do not need to have climate goals to participate.

Program Structure

This is a year-long program with:

  • Monthly sessions in which cohort members work through the program curriculum

  • Monthly working group meetings with a subset of cohort participants to tackle a shared impact management challenge by working on assignments together

  • Optional guest sessions with industry experts on frontier topics in impact management

Who Should Join?

All investors and philanthropists — across impact focuses — that are interested in impact are welcome! Multiple team members from a single organization are also encouraged to join. But SIM is generally the best experience for people who…

  • Are looking for ways to improve the quality of their impact assessment approach

  • Make and steward multiple investments, either within or across asset classes

  • Are wondering how to further integrate multiple impact priorities and/or factor in negative impact

  • Seek a hands on experience

  • Value learning alongside their peers

If you want to improve your existing practices or struggle to weigh multiple priorities, this course is an excellent place to build knowledge, get hands-on practice, and get to know some of your peers.

How Do I Register?

If you’re interested or have questions, please contact anjali@primecoalition.org. The deadline to confirm participation is March 31, 2025, with the course launching in mid-April.

Who has Participated in the Past?

See here for a full list of current and past cohorts.

What is the Time Commitment?

We recommend that teams aim to allocate 4 hours per month to this work.

What is the Cost?

The standard fee is $30,000, covering up to five people from the participating organization. Course instructors are always available to discuss scholarships based on the organization's size, number of team members participating, and for-profit / nonprofit status.

Are Classes Recorded?

All classes — not working group meetings — are recorded and available on a private password-protected site for cohort participants, in case they miss any or would like to reference materials later. Unless otherwise preferred, participant logos are listed on our alumni page. Participants are free to share as much or as little as they like with other cohort members, with no expectation of sharing information that is considered confidential or proprietary. All participants are covered by NDA.
